Stainless Steel Sinks

Stainless Steel Kitchen Sinks are ideal as stainless steel is highly resistant to stains and rust making them durable. This is because stainless steel is highly corrosion-resistant in air at ambient temperature because of the additions of a minimum of 13% (by weight) chromium. The chromium forms a passivation layer of chromium(III) oxide (Cr2O3) when exposed to oxygen.  The layer is impervious to water and air, protecting the metal beneath, also this layer quickly reforms when the surface is scratched.

The Types of Stainless Steel Kitchen sinks available on the market today include:

  • Inset Kitchen Sinks that are designed to be fitted into the worksurface providing a seamless join between work surface and sink.
  • Sit On Kitchen Sinks that are designed to sit on top of the work surface rather than inserted into it.
  • Undermount Kitchen Sinks that are designed to be fitted beneath a solid work surface such as granite.
  • Stainless Steel Belfast Sinks, a modern take of the traditional Belfast sink.

what are pillar and mixer taps

Taps are valves used to control the release of liquids or gases, most common are Kitchen Taps and Bathroom Taps designed to supply cold and hot potable water for drinking and cleaning in homes and businesses.

There a many different types of modern bathroom and kitchen taps available with the modern Thermostatic Mixing Taps becoming the most popular choice. The Thermostatic Mixer Tap works by using a valve to mix the hot and cold water supplies. This type of bathroom and kitchen tap is most common as it allows the user to set the temperature to their desired water temperature and also helps to reduce the risk of scalding.

The common Pillar Tap is also a popular choice for bathrooms and kitchens and provides a separate cold and hot water and they are a more traditional type of tap. All though the Pillar Taps is a traditional type of tap modern pillar taps have come a long way from the basic cross head pillar taps with a wide range of contemporary styles available some including a lever top rather than the conventional screw top valve.

Pegler Yorkshire exhibit new programmable radiator control at PHEX 2011

Pegler will be demonstrating its new terrier i-temp PRC at this year’s plumbing and heating exhibition along with a range of other new products. The i-temp is design so that the temperature and time for each room can be set independently without altering the master programmer for the home. This simple upgrade fits to most existing TRV’s (thermostatic radiator valves) by using an adaptor supplied with the PRC. The i-temp also comes with a thermostatic valve body so it can be fitted as a new valve rather than using the adaptor to fit it to an existing TRV. Get more information about the terrier i-temp from here.

Pegler will also be showcasing its new range of designer water conserving taps. Within the Francis Pegler range water conserving taps, mixers and showers include the Haze Eco, the Loko Eco and the Pulsar Eco – which incorporate Triple Action Click Cartridges which can reduce mixed flow rates by up to 70%.

Pegler will also display the prestex range of TMVs with T shape under basin, shower, bidet and bath fill applications that conform to the water safety section of Part G regulations brought in last summer. These anti scald safety products are supported by third party approvals under the Buildcert TMV2 and TMV3 schemes, they benefit from an additional 46C test being carried out which is not included in the standards.

Pegler will also have the its range of multilayer – flexible tap connectors with built in isolation valve on exhibition. The range of flexible tap connectors offered includes both the kuterlite compression and tectite. Both ranges are designed to connect varying material types from copper to PEX/PB. The flexible connectors offer heat-free joints through the kuterlite compression fitting mechanism and instantaneous jointing with the tectite push-fit version.
